Description

This Birkin25 Clemence Grenat PHW is in Grenat Clemence leather with palladium hardware and has tonal stitching, front flap, two straps with center toggle closure, clochette with lock and two keys, and double rolled handles. The interior is lined with Grenat chevre and has one zip pocket with an Hermès engraved zipper pull and an open pocket on the opposite side.

This Birkin is crafted of Grenat coloured Clemence leather. Grenat is a sophisticated mix of red and purple. Clemence, one of Hermès’s most popular leathers, is a large-grained skin that was originally created for luggage and first appeared in Hermès’ collections in 1992. The technique that produces this large grain is called Drumming, which softens the skin. Clemence, named for the daughter of the designer who introduced it into Hermès’ collections, is very similar to Togo. Both are very popular; Clemence is made from the male calf and Togo is made from the female.

Clemence has a semi-matte smooth, pebbled-grained surface that creates a slightly slouchy and relaxed handbag Clemence and Togo are both natural leathers and quite similar, but Clemence is smoother to the touch and has slightly larger grains and no veining compared to Togo.

The Birkin Hermès bag is an icon in the fashion world, highly sought-after by celebrities and the handbag-obsessed. The Birkin Hermès design is a collaboration between Jane Birkin and Hermès CEO Jean-Louis Dumas. Before the Birkin bag, Hermès was already well-established as a house of luxury leather goods, catering to their elite clients’ needs. Today, of course, with the preeminence of the Birkin, Hermès has become the preeminent luxury handbag design house — the maker of the most coveted handbags on earth.

This story begins in 1983, with the chance encounter between It-Girl Jane Birkin and Jean-Louis Dumas, the artistic director and CEO of Hermes. The two met on a flight from Paris to London in 1984. Birkin confided in Dumas that she lacked a purse with appropriate functionality for her fast-paced lifestyle. Out of this conversation, the icon was born.

Having instantly captivated the hearts of many ever since its release after three years of assiduous crafting, the Birkin bag has doubtlessly become one of the most timeless pieces in the course of fashion history. Its roomy interior made it an ideal jet-set option, and the lock meant it could be securely carried closed during travel. The clean lines, minimalist style, and casual flair perfectly captured Birkin’s personal style. She was gifted a 40cm Birkin, which she individualized with stickers. It retailed for about $2,000. In 2011, Jane Birkin sold her original, well-worn bag at auction for more than $162,000 to support earthquake relief efforts in Japan.

Today, the Birkin bag comes in sizes 25cm, 30cm, 35cm, and 40cm and in a variety of leathers and exotic skins.

Actor and singer Jane Birkin with her casual, high-low look was described for decades as the epitome of French style. On July 16 2023, we lost the icon. The Anglo-French actress, singer and fashionista passed away at the age of 76 in her Parisian home. However, with her signature tousled bangs, under-eye mascara and classy wardrobe, there will always be a designated place for her in the world of fashion. Her legacy lives on and will remain engraved in the essence of French fashion. And whilst Jane Birkin may no longer be with us today, she will certainly be reinstated to the forefront of our minds whenever we spot the Hermés house icon.

The Jane Birkin bag is a part of fashion history and remains the “icon” bag, enjoying a popularity greater than ever. Hermes only makes a limited amount of Birkin bags per year as part of their scarcity marketing strategy. Buying a Birkin directly from Hermès requires an extensive purchase history with the brand and the style of Birkin Hermès delivered to boutiques is rarely known ahead of time. As a result, customers must either make do with available Hermès Bags Birkin or patiently wait for the style they want to become available.

Lovedbags is a reliable reseller of authentic pre-loved Hermès bags in Finland. Every bag we offer is in excellent condition and authenticated using Entrupy. Each of the Birkins visible on our website is in stock, and available for immediate delivery. If you don’t see the specific size, colour, or style you want, our concierge department will be happy to try to source it for you.
